Lake Asbury is located in Clay County which many consider to be a virtual water wonderland where lakes and rivers are in abundance. It is approximately a 20-30 minute drive from the beaches, Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Ponde Vedra. With its entire eastern boundary defined by the north-flowing St. Johns River it is easy to imagine why so many find the scenery in these parts so captivating. Homes here are situated in family-friendly neighborhoods and are within walking distance of many of the area’s many natural amenities. Clay County is the 26th largest county in the state, but today remains one of Florida’s most diverse and business friendly. The county is bolstered by its proximity to Metro Jacksonville as well as the many fine academic institutions that are situated throughout the northeast region. Many major international employers have offices in the region which makes for a wide variety of employment opportunities in high paying industries such as Aerospace and Entertainment. Northeast Florida’s economy also has a very large Agriculture sector which further diversifies the region’s workforce.

Lake Asbury is served by two high schools, one elementary school and one middle school. Each school falls under the guidance of the Clay County Unified School District, which is an A-rated system and is considered one of the best in the state. For those interested in pursuing an education beyond high school, or for those working adults looking to advance their careers some of the larger colleges in the immediate area include Florida Community College at Jacksonville, Saint Johns River Community College and the University of North Florida. The biggest university in this part of the state is the University of Florida in Gainesville, which is approximately 46 miles from Lake Asbury. Gainesville is a true college town and makes for an exciting day or weekend trip to take in a college football game.

The Clay County Historic Museum & Triangle and the Historic Melrose, a walking tour of 79 historic sites, are educational attractions for all to enjoy. For those who love shopping, the Orange Park Mall is a Simon Mall with major retail stores such as Dillards, Sears, JC Penney as well as a variety of specialty shops and stores.
